A Team of 5 Workforce Development Agencies received a grant from the State of California Workforce Accelerator Fund for a Project called Workforce Community Solutions.  The project is focused on breaking down workforce system silos to increase economic equity across the 3 county region (San Francisco, Alameda & Contra Costa Counties).

The project offers opportunities for workforce, education, asset development, justice, CBOs, businesses, philanthropy/government, and our partners to identify strategies to close the racial and gender income and wealth gaps for our most vulnerable community members.  To this end, we will conduct a survey and hold a regional event to share effective models and strategies, and increase collaboration and communication across the region.

We acknowledge that community members in our Bay Area region are disproportionately harmed by policies, systems and beliefs that disadvantage based on race, gender and ability.  Poverty, incarceration, trauma, homelessness, etc. are symptoms of biased policies and practices. Due to the inequitable access to opportunities and resources, responses must be multigenerational, systemic and rooted in policies and practices that acknowledge the inequities, and promote inclusion and full participation.

Connecting across the Region:

Join a regional discussion and effort to collaborate better, focus more on      equity and scale effective approaches and strategies to achieve equity.      Imagine this as a massive collective impact effort.

There will be opportunities to share resources and learn from similar efforts (i.e. placed based economic mobility) via a survey and regional event.

Vision - what a collaborative region could look like:

*If folks who are part of the  workforce system could pick up the phone and talk to each other

*We look like a true regional system not separated by county lines since our clients and their families are moving across the region for housing, services, education/training and employment

Potential Project Wins:

  • Regional approaches
  • Shared information
